The Two – Minute Teaching Tip – Fighting Fear!

Your students are deathly afraid of making mistakes and looking stupid in front of their peers. Failure hurts…especially at school…especially in front of their friends. Were you ever humiliated in front of your classmates? I was. It still hurts!

To avoid the potential for making a mistake and looking stupid, students, especially failure-prone students, refuse to risk… They refuse to try… They refuse to participate. Without participation, learning is limited. “The person who does the work does the learning.”

Sounds crazy! But, in an effort to protect themselves and avoid looking stupid, students choose to appear lazy by not participating. They would much rather appear lazy than stupid. They can control lazy, but they can’t control looking stupid. It’s about control.

When students see themselves as failures… As dummies… As stupids… Discipline problems erupt. It’s only natural. Our greatest desire as human beings is to be accepted! Our greatest fear is rejection! When students fail, they feel the greatest of all pains… The pain of rejection. Then, they strike back out of frustration and pain. Eventually, discipline becomes a problem.

What’s the point? As a teacher, fighting fear by reducing the fear factor is one of your primary goals. Sound difficult? Not really.

For twenty-five years, I worked in the world’s largest failure warehouse… The Texas Department of Corrections. During my years as an educator in the prison system, one lesson became increasingly apparent. That lesson was the negative impact fear… Fear of failure… Has on students’ willingness to risk and learn.

To overcome the tendency for students to withdraw from the class both mentally and physically, I developed a simple, but highly effective way to encourage student involvement. Give your students the risk level! That’s right. Tell them the potential for failure involved in a task before asking them to volunteer… To participate.

Here’s how it works. On the first day of school, tell them you realize fear of failure and embarrassment could limit their willingness to participate and learn. Want to really, really win them over? Tell them about a time when the fear of failure affected your life. Even better, make the example about school, and you’ll be an instant hero. You’ll seem human. They’ll love you for it!

Risk level is measured on a scale of 1 to 10, with one having a prerequisite of being able to breath. Most of us can do that! Right? No way to feel the fear of failure when an activity is a risk level of one. Your students will rush to tackle any task with a risk level of one.

You’ll see hands start to go up in midair with blinding speed. You’ll see students volunteer who had never ever considered volunteering before. Feeling in control and succeeding, even in a minor way, has positive effects.

What’s the point? Before you have your students participate in an activity, always give them the risk level. Tell them up front about the potential for failure! The more difficult the task… The higher the risk level. It’s simple. It’s powerful. It’s doable. Let’s do it!

Start with risk levels where everyone… Yes, everyone feels confident enough to risk. Then, work up the scale.

Admittedly, a risk level of 10 is a little on the scary side. But after a few weeks of applying this simple failure and fear reducing process, your students learn to trust you. When they learn, actually learn… You aren’t out to get them or embarrass them, even your failure-prone students will start to risk. That’s exciting!

Please remember this is a gradual process. It takes time to build the trust necessary to risk failure. Give the process time.

One thing to remember… Intermingle risk levels up and down the scale. Start with ones. Then, graduate to twos and threes. This gives the failure-prone students the opportunity to risk and win. Once the students have a few successes under their belts… The sky is the limit!

As a teaching tool, this is an awesome one. Like any other tool, it is only useful when you use it. Make it a habit. Give your students the opportunity to control their own destiny by giving them the risk level.

It’s simple. It’s powerful. It works!

Ready to risk? Try it! It’s a risk level 5…

10 ways to reduce fear in the classroom…

1. Fear-less… Make your classroom a fear-less place by developing a simple fear strategy. This strategy minimizes the fear of making mistakes. It’s simple. Discuss fear and how it affects behaviors in the classroom. Start with a simple question. How many of you feel you will make a mistake or miss a question on a test this year? The key is openness. When students see that learning involves making a few mistakes, they will risk. As the teacher, your hand should go up first to say you’ll make mistakes this year, too!

2. Share… Tell’em about your own experiences when you suffered feelings of failure. Tell them how it felt when you made mistakes in school. Be specific! Tell a story about you! This one exercise in bravery will reap tons of good will. Hey, you’ll actually seem human.

3. Tell them… Tell them about the risk level… You know, the article above. Remember 1 to 10…

4. Bad day… Tell them it’s okay to tell you when they are having a bummer day. You’ll avoid calling on them. Watch for abuse of this one! The abuser may need a double-dose of insight about risking and failing. Again, personal stories work wonders here.

5. Ask the question… What can I do to help reduce your fear of making a mistake and being embarrassed? This one takes patience. Give them time…Tons of time. Let them open up. Students know their fears. Let them have the opportunity, in a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere, to discuss them. This one activity can set the stage for a dizzying school year of success for you and your students. But, you’ve gotta do it!!! It won’t happen unless you make it happen.

6. Change their perception… Instill in each student it takes courage to risk making mistakes and failing. The student who risks is a hero. Teach the class to celebrate mistakes. Yes, you can! You can change how students feel about making mistakes by having them see those who risk as heroes. If it worked in prison, it can work for you. Work it! Change their perception!

7. What to do? Discuss with your class the options they have to respond to mistakes. Have the class make a list of possible responses they might employ after making a mistake. For example: when students feel the pain of failure because they answered a question incorrectly, what do they do? Here’s an option… Have them say, wow, that took courage! I’m glad I tried. This is good! Why? Because everyone will have access to these options to counteract their negative failure feelings.

No, they aren’t… These options are not excuses. They are rewards… Verbal rewards for having the courage to risk failure even when the risk results in a mistake. The class needs a minimum of 20 mistake rebuttal options.

8. Might fail? Worried? When students anticipate a situation where failure is a possible outcome, what can they do? Not all teachers embrace a fear strategy… Because keeping students off balance and fearful is their goal. You know it’s true! Then, what is a student to do? Here’s where you come in again. Discuss it! That’s right, have the class discuss situations where they might feel out of control because of the potential for failure. For example: test anxiety is a major concern of students. What can be done to deal with stress? Deep breathing? Dropping the jaw and shoulders?

What’s the point? Look for situations and provide students tools to deal with these situations. Make a list of what to do’s! The list should include other areas of the students’ life. Work… Home… Dating…

9. They can handle it! Several years ago, I read a super-fantastic book… Feel the fear and do it anyway by susan jeffers. The book was based on one overriding principle. No matter what… You can handle it! Twenty years ago my father came for a short visit.

He was healthy. His color was good. He had never been in a hospital. Just before returning home, he had a heart attack and died in my arms. It was devastating!

What’s the point? You have suffered many failures, heartaches and setbacks in your life. Guess what? You’ve handled all of them. You are still here! Your students need to learn this lesson of life as early as possible. They can handle mistakes, failure and embarrassment. Show them by teaching them this one powerful statement: no matter what… I can handle it! Have them say it over and over with tons of emotion. I can handle it! I can handle it! I can handle it!

10. Instill in each student the joy of learning and growing. How? By being an example of a lifelong learner. By demonstrating your love and enthusiasm for your subject area. By making what you teach meet the needs and wants of your students. It can be done. To this day, my oldest son loves history because of one wonderful teacher. That’s right, just one teacher who loved his subject so much he became contagious. This contagious enthusiasm for history touched each student’s life in a special way.

What’s the point? When your students develop the love of learning, risking is worth the risk.

Think about this statement, in fact, read it several times… Knowledge without action is as worthless as a parachute after the first bounce.

What’s the point? You now have some awesome tools to fight fear in your classroom. These tools are absolutely worthless unless you use them. Use them daily… Until they become a habit. Force yourself to act differently than you feel. Why? Implementing this fear fighting process will feel uncomfortable at first! Why? Because it’s new, unfamiliar and you could fail. You could make a mistake. You might even feel a tinge of fear. But, go ahead… Do it! You can handle it!

The best to you, Karl.

A ‘candidential’ Who’s Who

A ‘CANDIDENTIAL’ WHO’S WHO

A New Astrological Look At The Current Presidential Candidates

by Suzanne White

Buffalo. June 2006 – Bill Clinton was working the back of the room at Chef’s, a busy checkered tablecloth spaghetti restaurant in the city center. Like a friendly navy blue Lab, Clinton bounded up to table after table of astounded Buffalonians, shook hands with them all, kissed the regulation number of babies and hugged one or two huge flowered ladies over sixty real hard till their glasses fell askew.

“He’s so tall.” gasped my sister-in-law, Nicole. “and handsome.”

What could Bill Clinton be doing in downtown Buffalo? thought I, pretending to study the huge plasticated menu, whilst keeping an eye peeled on Big Bill’s progress.

My brother George, a terminally tranquil seventy-two year old convicted life term Republican was suddenly in motion. First, he fidgeted his beer glass to his lips and squinted in amazement over top of the glass’s rim as the immense blue-suited apparition hove our way. By the time Clinton was upon us, George had gone all sedate and respectful. He had decorously placed his napkin on the table beside his plate, gotten to his feet and extended his hand. “Mr. President.” I heard him say reverentially. “Tickled pink to meet you.”

Bill shook his hand amiably, performing that chummy demeaning hold onto your wrist thing that patronising men do to each other sometimes. It looks like the first guy is stealing the other guy’s right cuff link. But Bill was just being his charming presidential self. “What should I order here?” Bill asked George. “They say it’s pretty good. What would you suggest I eat here today?”

The last time I had seen my brother paralyzed was at Buffalo Children’s Hospital when he had polio at age 12. The look on his face said, Do I advise this Democrat punk about the hearty home-cookin’ here in my favorite Italian restaurant? Or should I steer him to the heartburn column?

Clinton stood fast, waiting for his culinary tip. With that dopey

Labrador grin on his face, he looked so calm he might have been asleep.

To an experienced politician like Bill Clinton, Republicans probably have a certain smell. To me, it looked like Bill had diagnosed old Georgie from afar and decided to try to do a quickie on the spot party conversion. His unspoken message was: Hey chum. You got an Armani knit polo shirt on. Gucci loafers without tassles. You look like a guy who knows his Italian cuisine. The truth, they say, is the ultimate con.

Still immobilized, my brother half sat, holding the menu up so as Bill could easily read all the available dishes: Pasta, Calzones, Lasagna, Meatballs – the usual suspects. “You ought to have this one. Mr. President.” intoned George, pointing to a square in the center of the menu. “It’s the specialty of the house.”

“Did you order that?” Bill wondered. George nodded and smiled goofily up at Bill. Yes indeedy, he had.

The die was cast. My strictly conservative Reaganite brother George had just fallen in love.

By now, the entire restaurant was in heat. A kind of groupie estrus malaise had come over all the women. I was the worst hit. A 68 year old 16-year-old with a digital camera. I kept hot flashing it up at the towering Bill as he still stood near our table now talking to Chef’s Restaurant’s owner who is of course called Chef.

“You were born on the same day as me,” Chef told Bill. “August 19, 1946.”

“Oh that is a co-incidence now, isn’t it?” said Bill.

I had written a New York Times Op-ed piece about Clinton when he was running against Dole. It was all about New Astrology signs and how Clinton was a Leo born in a Dog year and Dole was a Virgo born in a Pig year and what that meant for the outcome of the election. I had, even back then, compared Bill Clinton to a Labrador who jumps up on you and laps off your makeup just to say hello. Eager and friendly but perhaps not all that well-bred.

FYI, this Bill Clinton person is a giant. I looked up and shouted over the restaurant’s hysterical din, “You’re a Leo/Dog! You are both Leo/Dogs.”

The way those men looked down at me then made me sure that both Clinton and the Chefster had me figured me for some batty old woman who lives half-snockered in a trailer under the overpass outside the city limits and who dreams of having something – anything – even her obituary – published in The New York Times.

But Bill had nonetheless connected. “A Leo/Dog huh?” He hollered back down to me.

“Yes.” I shouted. “You are a Leo and you were born in a Dog year. That makes you a Leo/Dog in New Astrology. I invented it. It’s a book!”

Now I was really a rattling loony tunes. I got that old sizzly feeling of impending immortality. I was talking to a former president of the United States about The New Astrology. It was like sitting right next to Salvador Dali in the cinéma in Paris. I did that once too. It also felt sizzly.

“Well,” said Bill, leaning down to me. “I’m a Leo/Dog, huh.

“Yep.” I chirped. “That’s what I said. You are a Leo/Dog.”

He smiled, placed his big hand on my shivering shoulder, gave a nod and confided, “I’ve been called worse.”

I can’t help it. I brake for a man with brains. For me, in a man, income level, social status and availability are irrelevant. They have to be smart and make me laugh. Otherwise, what good are they?

Now let’s have a look at the current presidential candidates… and their brains.

D- Barack Obama is a Leo too. He was born in 1961. In The New Astrology, that makes him a Leo/Ox. Like Napoleon Bonaparte and Louis Armstrong and Monica Lewinski. Dictator, jazzman and uh…. Tough cookie?

D- Hillary Clinton is a Scorpio. She was born in 1947. She’s a Scorpio/Pig, Like Marie-Antoinette and Chiang-Kai-Shek and our own Kevin Kline. These whiz kid people drip canny authenticity. They often benefit from unusual destinies.

D- John Edwards? He’s a Gemini born in 1953. That’s a Gemini/Snake like John F Kennedy and Bobby Dylan and Brooke Shields. Irresistibly attractive, meticulous, slick and ever so clever at fibbing.

R- John McCain was born in late August of 1936. He’s a Virgo/Rat. A couple of his birthmates are song and dance men, Maurice Chevalier and Gene Kelly. The sunny kind of Rat. Capable and power hungry.

R- Mitt Romney is a Pisces born in 1947 which makes him a Pisces/Pig in New Astrology. Pigs are naïve but they can very convincing. He shares a New Astrology sign with L. Ron Hubbard. Is this the sign of the preacher man?

Each of these New Astrology© signs is double. They blend the person’s western month sign with his or her Chinese Year sign and come up with a whole new character type. Caution! Cast not thy vote before swine.

Kellyburris.com Establishes New Standards For Life Coach Training

What determines human behavior? There is not a Life Coach or for that matter a psychologist, psychiatrist or physician who can definitively answer this question yet this is the most fundamental question if you wish to initiate permanent behavior change. If you can not answer this question, how can you possibly expect to help someone make a change in their behavior let alone a permanent change? How can you move forward if you do not know what is moving you forward. Another question your need to ask yourself is “Can I fix anything if I do not know how it works?” Occasionally you can guess and by accident you can fix something but if you are guessing, especially in terms of human behavior it is unlikely you will ever be able to repeat the results. Burris MIND/FITNESS Life Coach Training and Life Coach Certification begin by answering the question…”What determines human behavior?” In the resolution of any problem it is always about the question. Never has this been more relevant. Imagine if for the last 60 years psychologists asked, “How can I fix it?” instead of “Why is it broken?!”

Example: If you get a flat tire on your car, do you want to walk back down the road to find out why you got the flat or do you want to know how to fix it so that you can keep moving forward? At some point it may be useful to know what caused the flat but the first objective and first question always needs to be…How can I fix it?

It is certainly not necessary to spend the last 40 years of your life analyzing the first 40 years of your life.

The new standard that Kelly Burris establishes for Life Coach Training and Life Coach Certification is a clinically proven process for behavior change. Back in the late 1980′s when I completed the first version of this program process I presented it to my partner who was an MD PhD and a fanatical statistician. After explaining the process and how well it could work, his response was “Prove It!” After he said that I realized that no one in the business of behavior change could prove what they were selling and this is still true today. Your mind and in particular your subconscious mind controls everything in your life yet no one can tell you how it works, until now.

In 1990 I introduced what is now Burris MIND/FITNESS Life Coaching into psychiatric care with dramatic results. In 1992 I set up my first clinical studies and have maintained and refined the infrastructure for study of the program ever since. Even though the clinical studies specifically focused on Depression, Eating Disorders, Weight Loss, Motivation and Relationships the program has seen success in virtually every behavior. The reason for this is the program is designed to guide you through the process of how a behavior works. You then learn how to recognize, access and change any behavior that simply does not work. This makes the Certified Burris MIND/FITNESS Life Coach the very best because if they are asked to “Prove It” they have the training and infrastructure to do so.

Burris MIND/FITNESS Life Coaching is based on the reality that all behavior is emotionally driven or in other words your emotional state = your behavior. How you feel about things will always determine whether you move toward them or not. You will always move toward perceived pleasure and away from pain. The key component of any behavioral change program must include how to get control of your emotional state.

The health of your body is dependent on your mental health and taking control of the subconscious is the key to lasting permanent change of any behavior. I will speak more on taking control of the subconscious in an upcoming article.

Count your blessings before your woes

One of the things that I constantly remind myself about, is to be very aware of the good things in my life. It seems to be a part of human biological functioning to take good things for granted, especially those good things that are a part of our day-in, day-out lives.

You see, there is actually a part of our brain that is designed to screen out anything that isn’t hurtful, fearful, or physically moving. A long time ago, it helped our ancestors stay alive and get ready to fight or run away.

Nowadays, this brain function may have something to do with our neglect of the good but very familiar things in our lives. So is there anything we can do about it? How can we combat this complacency?

Well, for one thing we can become conscious! We can stimulate our own awareness by making lists of the things we are grateful for, and by deliberately thinking about what we value and take pleasure from.

We can express these feelings in words, or in other ways. We can express them openly, and in the process help others to remember their own reasons for gratitude. What are you grateful for in your life? How do you express your gratitude, and how often do you express it?

Are you taking your most important gifts for granted? If so, how could you change, and how soon?

Can you be trusted? Do you keep your promises

Can you be trusted? Not by others, but rather by yourself? How good are you at keeping agreements with yourself?

In their book “Life 101,” John-Roger and Peter McWilliams pointed out that the agreements we make are always with ourselves, although sometimes they include other people. In that sense, they’re like relationships. All of our relationships are with ourselves, but often they include other people as well.

Now, your word is one of the most precious things you have, but many people think very little of breaking it. This is a mistake for two reasons.

First and most obviously, it weakens your credibility with other people. But even more importantly, it weakens your credibility, trustworthiness and reliability with yourself. You can’t help but act in ways that reflect that. So, once you make an agreement and give your word, do everything in your power not to break it. A broken word, like a broken cup, can’t hold much for very long.

When you lovingly keep your word, that is, keep it strong, keep it dependable, and keep it true, you will know the power of accountability. And when you lend this power to a worthy cause that you believe in, its effect will be doubly powerful.

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Trusting yourself is the first secret of success.” But how can you trust yourself unless you honour your agreements and keep your word?

Visualise your future make your dreams reality

DoweEp you have meaningful goals in every area of your life? Everyone should set meaningful goals for 2010. Goal-setting is a life-long “homework assignment.” I am confident that by doing this, you are setting yourself on the path to a fun, enjoyable and fulfilling life.

When you have all of your goals, written as if the future you want has already happened, what do you do next? The next step is vitally important, because we must be able to “see” ourselves into this new reality. Human beings think in three dimensions: Words (or language) that trigger Pictures, which cause Emotions (or feelings). So, it is important that the words of your goals cause the exact picture of what you want.

For example, if I want everybody receiving today’s message to have the same picture, and I say the word “dog” to you, it will trigger a picture in your brain. However, it will trigger thousands of different pictures, for the thousands of people receiving this message. Now, if I say, “white, brown and black Bassett Hound, with long ears, short legs and a white streak running up his forehead,” I have most of you picturing the same type of dog.

Take a look at your goals, and make certain that they cause you to picture exactly what it is you want; and these pictures should cause you to feel a positive, warm sense of accomplishment. If you need to, add words of clarity and emotion, turning your goals into a moving image of your future.

Now, at least twice a day, you should read each goal, take a moment to close your eyes and picture what the words say to you, and feel the emotions of each goal becoming real. Each goal will take 15-20 seconds, so you can work at 10 to 15 goals at a time. This is the visualization process that will take you from “want to” to “I am.”

If you and I did our jobs right this week, you probably had an exciting day and evening, experimenting with this whole new world of goal-setting. Are you working with each of them twice a day? This brings up another question: How good are you at keeping agreements . . . with yourself?

Goal Setting; Turn your “wants” into achievable goals

You should now have your lists of wants, balanced in the different areas of your life. You have checked them against your values, and each supports the other. Now, how do we turn those “wants” into meaningful and achievable goals?

Today, take one of your Balance Wheel sections. One that I place the highest value on is family palmer, yes I emphasise that it’s my family. One of my goals and personal affirmations is to spend time with them, and to be available whenever I’m needed.

Now, it is important to understand the difference between “want to” and “do.” “Wants” set up the “do’s” in your life, and your goals will need to be written to reflect the “do.” So, when my goal is to spend time with my children, I write the goal like this: “I spend quality time with each of my children. They all know how important they are to me.”

Suppose that you are a single mother, trying to balance work and home and family. It is a difficult road to travel, one filled with many choices. You want to spend as much time with your family, but you have to work. Guilt kicks in as you attempt to do it all. Now, thinking of work as a “have to” causes additional stress, which can shadow your work and home time. To remove the “have to” from work would help a lot, so your goal would be written as, “I love the work I do, because it affords me what I need to spend time with my kids.”

One final tip: When you write out your “wants” and goals, make sure you write them in the present tense – the future as now. Take out the “going to” and replace it with “I am.” You are seeing your future as if it has already happened.

Take each of your Balance Wheel “wants” and turn them into goals for the future, written in the present tense. You have come a long way in the last few days, and have started on the path to a successful year.

The 14 Keys That Can Help you to Rebuild your Broken Dreams, Lost Hopes, and Miserable Life

Many people nowadays living in a miserable life, most of them have no knowledge and have no idea on how to rebuild their broken dreams, lost hopes, and miserable lives.

Majority of this kind or group of people has no concept on how to stretch their God-given talents and skills because of tragedy that happens in their lives.

How about you? Do you want to stay forever as a garbage, junk, unproductive, and defeated individuals? Remember my dear readers, life is so short, why not encourage yourself to stand once again and prove to yourself and to those people around you that You Can If You Think You Can!

Dear readers, you have a lot of chances and opportunities to rebuild your broken dreams, lost hopes, lost reputations, and miserable lives. I encourage you, learn from your mistakes! And think of this: The Diamond cannot be polish without friction; nor man be perfected without trials. So take the trials, chaos, and tragedy in your life as a challenge and a stepping- stone to succeed in life!

Before your born, Our Loving and Merciful God has already a beautiful plan and dreams for you. God said in Jeremiah 29:11-13, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” The Lord adds, “Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and find me, and I will listen to you. You will seek and find me when you seek with all your heart” (NIV).

I hope the above texts are enough to convince and encourage that you are a beautiful and unique creature and not a garbage, junk, and rug that other people may visualize of you. Below are the following keys, If you only faithfully follow its instruction and advise, it will help you to encourage and motivate yourself to THINK and GROW RICH!

1. Pray Daily. By praying and communicating to our Loving and Merciful God daily you can be able to ease, release all of the worries, pains, tensions of your life and find a good source of courage and strength to move on, to beat the odds in your life. If you’re feeling lonely, blue, and depressed, God said, “Call me and I will answer you and show the great and mighty things which you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV).

2. Avoid toxic, negative people. Avoid people who are fun of criticizing, gossiping and judging other people. The Word of God clearly remind you this, “Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character” (1 Corinthians 15:33 NIV). The Word of God further added and gave warning to “Stay away from a foolish man, for you will not find knowledge on his lips” (Proverbs 14:7 NIV).

But if you are the victims of the evilspeaking tongues of the negative, toxic people, I encouraged you…please do not take heed to that kind of garbage, junk individual but focus in your main goal to improve your life and succeed. Why I have told you that? Because me too before during my student’s life, I experience a lot of criticism but as a young man and historian who are thirsty and hunger for knowledge and wisdom, through reading the profiles and writings of the great wise men of the world, I discovered, come up and finally concluded that a statue has never been erected in honor for a critics!

I’ve found out that before any great accomplishment is achieved in reality, it’s believed in heart. If you need to hear the applause of the crowd, you have to begin your attack in the face of criticism, believing that the applause will come later.

3. Encourage yourself to have a dream. By dreaming and visualizing your ambition, it can help and assist you to attain your goal in life. Napoleon Hill, the greatest inspirational classical author whom I admired most reminds you that “Cherish your visions and your dreams as they are the children of your soul; the blueprints of your ultimate achievements.”

Dear readers always recall these, if you have a dreams hold to your dreams. If your dreams die, you’re like a wounded bird without a wing!

4. Know and Identify your Purpose. Ask yourself, what is the cause that makes you need to tackle, or desire to succeed in your plan and goal? Is it worthy enough to consume your energy, effort, time, and commitment? John Maxwell, My most favorite leadership author point out that, “Behind every great accomplishment is a purpose, not a wish. Our purpose puts the seasoning in life, and makes it tasty and exciting.” Maxwell added, “Person with a purpose does things out of the ordinary, above average. Personality doesn’t make a person extra-ordinary. Neither does intelligence nor education. What makes a person extra-ordinary is a purpose – the consuming desire to accomplish something in life.”

John Maxwell further added and gave an acrostic that may help you understand and remember what a sense of purpose will do for you, how it will lift you out of the realm of the ordinary. A purpose will cause you to:

Pray more than the ordinary person.

Unite more than the ordinary person.

Risk more than the ordinary person.

Plan more than the ordinary person.

Observe more than ordinary person.

Sacrifice more than ordinary person.

Expect more than the ordinary person.

5. Encourage yourself to socialize with the wise people and you will become wise! Encouraged yourself to socialize with the group of people who has a dream and ambition because you will learn from them and it can encourage and motivate yourself to move on, to strive hard for excellence. The Word of God my dear readers firmly convinced you to “…walks with the wise, grows wise, but a companion of fools (negative, toxic people) suffers harms” (Proverbs 13:20 NIV).

6. Encourage and teach yourself to value knowledge and wisdom. The late Ernie Baron, A Filipino great journalist once said “Knowledge is Power. No Knowledge, No Power” and the Word of God is strongly gave advised and encouraged that you should always value knowledge and wisdom if you’ve really want to succeed your adhering in life. The Book of Proverbs 4:7-9 exclaim “Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Through it cost all you have, get understanding. Esteem her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor. She will set garland of grace on your head and present you with a crown of splendor” (NIV).

Remember, the best investment you can make is in you. You can make more money or acquire more of whatever you want by investing in you than in any other investment!

So, starting today, surround yourself with the best of good books, best of music, and best of wise people because knowledge and wisdom is supreme!

7. Encourage yourself the value of hard work. If you’d really desire to attain your goal, encourage yourself to exert more effort and work hard. The Word of God assert that, “All hard works brings a profit, but mere talks leads only to poverty “(Proverbs 13:23 NIV). The Word of Lord again expressed out and warned you, “Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth” (Proverbs 10:4 NIV).

Remember nothing worthwhile comes easily. Half effort does not produce half results. It produces no results, continuous work, hard work, is the only result that lasts!

8. Encourage and teach yourself the of value time. Remember time is not money because you cannot accumulate time. You cannot regain time lost. You cannot borrow time. So learn to use your time wisely. Think of this, life is so short; our life is like a vapor that appears for a moment and then disappears. Therefore, better live your best; act your best, and think your best today; for today is the sure preparation for tomorrow!

People, do not let your time pass without doing something good to yourself and to your fellowmen…remember time is short!

9. Take good care of your health. Except God, there is only one person who can be truly faithful, honest, and very loyal on you. That even in time of chaos, hardship and calamities who are always there to stay behind you through tick and thin no matter what happen and that is you! So, take good care of yourself, that is your only asset and only capital to succeed to your goals and dreams in life. Remember, Health is Wealth!

10. Don’t worry, be happy. Don’t worry about something that in reality does not really yet happens in your life. Instead of worrying, why not encourage yourself to think on how you can find a solution to solve your problems? Dr. Vincent Peal reminds you that, “Mental control is the secret of mature and creative judgment.” He added, “Your mind is an instrument designed to serve you, not to destroy you.” Dr. Peale warns that “When uncontrolled, your mind can be very damaging to you but when controlled it can developed unlimited power.”

Dr. Peale encourage you to “Know yourself. Control your mind. Think. Make right decisions. Never accept defeat. Believe in yourself. Mentally accept your great future. Never think of failing. Believe that you can if you think you can.”

Remember my dear readers, when you are at your weakest, God is in His greatest! So don’t worry, be happy!

11. Encourage and teach yourself to learn of controlling your tongue and temper. Many people put their lives into danger because of speaking without thinking and not learning on how to control and manage their temper. If you really want to succeed in your struggle in life, gain the support, gain the love, and gain the respect from the people around you, learn to manage your tongue and temper!

Think and ponder this for a moment, “Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the unfaithful is hard” (Proverbs 13:15 NIV). The Word of reminds you once again,, “He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks harshly will come to ruin” (Proverbs 13:3 NIV).

12. Let the Love and Faithfulness dwell in your heart. Our Great Almighty God encouraged should “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man” (Proverbs 3:3-4 NIV).

13. Encourage and teach yourself to value other people. Remember the sayings readers “No man is an Island”. Enable for you to become successful in you’re adhering in life, you should learn to value other people. In book entitled Team Work Makes the Dreams Work, John Maxwell pointed out “Teamwork gives you the best opportunity to turn vision into reality.” And Andrew Carnegie, the author of the book How to Win Friends and Influenced People added “It marks a big step in your development when you come to realize that other people can help you do a better job than you could do alone”. Helen Keller, the blind woman who became a great educator further added “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”

The Word of God forcefully reminding us people, In the Book of Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 uttered, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken” (NIV).

14. Trust and Make God be the Center of your Life. Solomon, a great wise man advised if your really longing to succeed in any games and challenge of life, you must learn, practice, and encourage yourself to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3: 5-6 NIV). And put God in the center and everything will come together (Romans 8:28 NIV).

Starting today, if you will make God as the center of your life, God has a special promised for you. He will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom! (Deuteronomy 28:11-13 NIV).

People remember John Maxwell reminds you that “The only person who can stop you from becoming what God intends you to become is you!

So, I encouraged you once again; Do your best always and God will do the rest!

And always recall this that the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams!

Wish you many blessings to come as well as God Bless us all!

Tantra – the Serpentine Ascent

Tantra – The Serpentine Ascent – Part I

Occult Vibratory Chemistry existed in India by the name of Tantra.

Tantra is derived from two Sanskrit words – Thanoti ( to expand ) & Trayaten ( to liberate). This Science has the power to expand and liberate !

Expansion means to grow beyond one’s boundaries. Expansion upto Infinity. Thanothi means the expansion of Consciousness ad infinitum.Individual consciousness should expand to Universal Consciousness for mergence in
the Supreme Self.

Trayate means to liberate, to liberate man from bondgage, from the Seven Deadly Sins which bind him to the sublunar world. The purging of mortal dross is a must for Self-Actualisation and the ” inner enemies of man ” Lust, greed, anger, jealousy, sloth, covetousness & attachment ) are the real blocks in the way of Self Actualisation

Liberation is not possible without expansion of Consciousness. When our individual Consciousness expands to Cosmic, we feel whole & are liberated from the thraldom of matter.

The Upanishadic Philosophy was based on the Five Concentric Sheaths known as the Five Koshas. The outermost concentric Sheath, the Anna Maya Kosha, is known as the Material Sheath. It envelopes the other four sheaths – vital, mental, intellectual & bliss.

Tantra, on the other hand, speaks about the Six Chakras, dynamoes of Cosmic
Energy in the human body.

These Chakras are ( in ascending order)

1. Root Chakra ( Muladhara )
2. Anal Chakra ( Manipura )
3. Solar Plexus Chakra ( Swadhistana )
4. Heart Chakra ( Anahata )
5. Throat Chakra ( Vishuddhi )
6. Eyebrow Chakra ( Ajna )

The Five Great Elements ( Earth, air, water, fire & ether ) & Mind reside
in the Six Chakras.

Earth-Principle resides in the Root Chakra
Water-Principle resides in the Navel Chakra
Fire-Principle resides in the Solar Plexus Chakra
Air-Principle resides in the Heart Chakra
Ether-Principle resides in the Throat Chakra
Mind-Principle resides in the Eye Brow Chakra.

The Microscomic representative of the Macrocosmic Shakti ( Cosmic Power ), the Kundalini, sportest as the Six principles in the Six Chakras in Her Cosmic Play.

O Infinite Power ! Thou art the Mind-principle in the Eye brow Chakra
In the Throat Chakra , Thou sport as the Ether-principle
In the Heart Chakra, Thou sportest as Air- principle
In the Solar Plexus Chakra, Thou art Fire-principle
In the Navel Chakra , Thou exist as Water-principle
In the Root Chakra, Thou art the Earth _Principle, O Mighty Mother !
And in the Crown Chakra, Thou sportest blissfully with thy beloved Consort !

She lies coiled in human beings as the Coiled Serpent Power ( Kundalini). She rises during Mediation and Yogic processes.

Her rise can be felt by the meditator. When She rises, a subtle warmth will be felt in the body. Voice changes. Voice becomes musical, ” propertied as the tuned spheres”. The personality of the native becomes very attractive due to the influx of Jupiterian energy. Wisdom and learning grace the individual. When She rises furthur, torrential bliss will be felt. And when She reaches the Crown Chakra, it is Cosmic Consciousness for the native !

She sports as Universal Power in the Macrocosm; and in the microcosm as the coiled Serpent Power!

Infinite Power of the Absolute art Thou!
The Cause of the Universe as Maya
The entire Creation is Thy Play
Thy blessing is Bliss Absolute !

The essence of all sciences art Thou
All women Thy manifestations !
The visible Universe Thou art
And the dormant Serpentine Power !

One of the pioneers in Tantra Research was Sir John Woodroffe , who had written many scholarly treatises on the subject. His magnum opus is the “Serpent Power”, which is a scientific treatise about the Kundalini. His
practice of Tantra endowed him with personal magnetism. He became the cynosure of all eyes. There was a special lustre on his face, he possessed the Golden Tongue of Good Report & there was a spiritual halo around him. He had developed his Auric Field ( the human electro-magnetic field ) due to Tantric techniques and bacame a dynamo of spiritual energy. His masterly book is a scientific diagnosis about Tantra.

The heart and vocal nervous centers are intimately related physiologically. Bhava Shuddhi or purity of Heart makes the voice innocent and musical. The true Initiate is he whose voice is true and who possesses the Golden Tongue of Good Report!

The Cosmic Shakti is the Force behind the Universe & the entire Universe is her play & display. Kundalini is Her microcosmic representation. She has been depicted as the Mother Goddess in Pagan philosophies.

Nature is visible Intelligence; Intelligence is invisible Nature. The Spiritual & the Natural are not different. That which is spiritual is natural in its ascent & cause. That which is natural is spiritual in its descent and being.

She is the female component of the Ultimate and all systems deal with the male and the female components of Reality. The male component is He ! Consciousness and Force, the Supreme Self and Nature, Matter and Spirit, Being and Becoming, the One and the Innumerable, the Formless and then a delirium of Forms – She and He, two in one, inseparable ! He, outside Time, outside Space, pure Being, pure Consciousness, the Great White Silence wherein everything is contained in a state of involution, contained, yet formless !

She flings forth from Him in an outburst of joy, again to find Him playing in Time, She and He, two in one , inextricable! Can Nature exist without her Lord ? Can He exist without Nature ?

This is the Purusha and Prakriti of Sankhya, the Brahman and Maya of Vedanta , the Sive and Shakti of Tantra !

Without Him, I exist not
Without Me, He is unmanifest ! – The Mother of Auroville

It is due to Her Grace that a man becomes a material success. It is She who gives the successful man the indomitable Will Power needed for success.

On the other hand, it is also Her Grace which giveth spiritual success. It is She who gives the devotee the necessary Self-knowledge, makes him do altruistic acts & leads him to Self-Actualisation. In other words, She has two aspects, material & spiritual and Her Grace is absolutely necessary for success in both the spheres. .

It is said that She, as the Prakriti ( Nature ) of Purusha ( Supreme Self), is the base of the Universe & when She becomes supremely pleased with the devotee, confers on him Self-Actualisation !

She is the Creatrix, She is the Mediatrix, She is the Dispensatrix and the Executrix of the absolute mechanism of Universal Justice.

Power is Divine and not to be condemned

It is this Power aspect of Consciousness which India has depicted as the Divine Mother. It is a mistake of the ethical and the religious mind to condemn Power as something unworthy because it is in its very nature corrupting and evil. Despite arguments to the contrary ( Power corrupts and absolute Power corrupts absolutely), Power, Shakti, Will is the mover of the worlds and basically is spiritual in origin and divine in character !

A Power to call Eternity into Time
And make the body’s joy as vivid as the soul’s !.

The highest philosophic concept is that of the Philosopher-King, he who possesses powers both eternal and temporal. They were known as Raja-Rishies in India. Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, King Janaka were all Raja-Rishies. Marcus Aurelius & Augustus Caesar in the West were also reputed Philosopher-Kings. They did not renounce power !

Tantra as related to Astrology

Tides are caused by the Moon. The human body is 65% water. ( Even the Archbishop of Canterbury is 65% water ). If Moon can effectuate tides, what effect will he have on the human body which is predominantly water? And what about the effects of other planets ?

The New Age Movement

New Age – A Paradigm Shift to Divine Consciousness & a Universal Philosophy

The New Age Movement (NAM) is a revival of spiritual and divine values and can be called as a Divine Regeneration Movement. New Age Philosophy has conquered the West intellectually and Western culture is currently experiencing a phenomenal shift – sociological, spiritual & ideological. It’s a secular, multi-cultural, multi-religious synthesis, of the Oriental mystical philosophies, mainly Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism & Western Occultism, emphasising Holism, the doctrine that Reality is organically One ( now taught in American Universities after Einstein’s Theory of Relativity ).

Behind the evolution of the species, there is an evolution of Consciousness. The aim of Life is Self-Actualisation, to evolve to the level of Unity Consciousness, defined as the 7th state of Consciousness in Transcendental Philosophy.

The social disturbance caused by the Vietnam War, the threat posed by AIDS, the disillusionment with materialistic ideas and the erosion of faith in Morality & Ethics brought a sense of futility & meaninglessness in the Western psyche. The limitations of the Western system of Chemotherapy & adverse side-effects of antibiotics, sedatives and certain other drugs and the disillusionment with the promises of science & technology made millions turn to Oriental philosophies, occult practices & systems of therapy.( Interest in Alternative Medicine developed to such an extent that there are now more than 180 systems of Alternative Medicine.
Exponents of New Age Philosophy in Europe and America include Transcendentalists like Thoreau, Emerson & Walt Whitman, Wordsworth, Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772), , & Theosophy introduced by Madame Helena Blavatsky (1831- 1891) & Col Olcott & the philosopher, Annie Besant. As the world witnessed a Consciousness Revolution, Transcendental Meditation, Yoga ,Zen, Carlos Castañada, the Beatles, Holistic Medicine ( both Western and Ayurveda ), Tantra, Astrology ( both Western & Vedic ) all became popular .

There are 6 million New Age sites on the Web and the NAM consists of a massive & well organised network consisting of thousands of groups, trusts, foundations, clubs, lodges, and spiritual groups whose goal and purpose is to prepare the world to enter the coming Aquarian Age. ( The Age of Aquarius ). In astrological symbolism, Aquarius represents Spirituality and Pisces Rationality. The Piscean Age, an age of Computer and Cybernetics revolution, will be followed by an Age of Consciousness Revolution or a Spiritual Revolution, the Aquarian Age.

Some New Age Organisations are : California New Age Caucus, New World Alliance, World Goodwill, The Church Universal and Triumphant, The Theosophical Society, Amnesty International, Zero Population Growth, the Forum, Planetary Initiative for the World We Choose, the Club of Rome, Church Universal & Triumphant, Christian Science, and the Unity School of Christianity.

New Age believes in the essential goodness of Man and the Divine Spark in Man and the New Age movement is not a unified cult system of beliefs and practices, even though its roots derive from Vedic Philosophy. There is no central authority, no official leader, no headquarters, nor membership list, but instead is a network of groups working toward World Peace and Universal Love. There are millions of worldwide followers of various New Age practices and the world is moving from Chaos ( Disorder ) to Cosmos ( Order ) ! This is a Phase Transition from Entropy ( Disorder ) to Order !

Significant influence has been gained by NAM affecting almost every area of Occidental culture—Sociology, Psychology, Medicine, the Government, Ecology, Science, Arts, Education, the Business Community, the media, entertainment, sports, and even the Church. Organised spiritual forms such as Christian Science, Unity and even forms of Witchcraft ( from the German ‘ Wicca’ meaning the Wise; Witchcraft means the Craft of the Wise ) are all its expressions. Various Human Potential Seminars, Transcendental Meditation, Zen Meditation and some Alternative Holistic Medicine practices are also its manifold manifestations.

Some popular New Age publications and journals are New Age Journal, the Z Files, Clarity, Body Mind Spirit, Yoga Journal, Gnosis, East West, Noetic Sciences, the Millenium Being and Omega. The new tendency of people now is to view everything from a New Age perspective

The major goal of the New Age Movement is to prepare Man for entering the Aquarian Age and to bring world peace in an already bruised world. “All is wrong with the world” said Shaw & some of the other goals of the NAM are to establish an entirely New World Order in the fields of Economy & Government. The idea of a World Government was proposed by Bernard Shaw earlier and was implemented by Mahesh Yogi and occurs in the writings of the foundational apostle of the New Age Movement, Alice Bailey.

The word ‘Initiation” is derived from the Latin “In ire” to go within and Initiates were termed by the Great Master as the salt of the Earth. The mystic Ward defined Reality as “Within and within and within and within” . Another mystic described it as “It is hidden, it is hidden and it is hidden”. To the mystic, self evolution is the means and only by changing and correcting ourselves can we change others . The primary goals of the movement then, are to prepare the world to receive the Divine Consciousness and to enter the Age of Aquarius, thus establishing the New World Order.

New Age Philosophy believes that human evolution can be accelerated, if not in the entire mass of humanity, at least in suitable individuals. Human nature is perfectible, through an intensive process of purification and Initiation.

The New Age Movement is secular & universally diffused over the earth’s surface & its basic underlying philosophy emphasises Gnosticism and Occultism. (Gnosticism is an ancient philosophy stating that Divine essence is the highest reality, and that the Self of man is actually this Essence. Behind the phenomenal world is the Transcendent Reality which Intuition alone can see ). It bears a remarkable resemblance to the Universal Religion that H.G. Wells predicted would one day take over the world.

The six main characteristics of New Age thinking are: (1) All is Unity; (2) All is Divine (3) Humanity is divine (4) A change in Consciousness; (5) All religions are One; and (6) Cosmic Evolutionary optimism.
Basically Dialectical Integralism, New Age Philosophy unites both Matter and Spirit.

Spirit shall see through Matter’s gaze

Matter shall reveal the Spirit’s face !

The 13 main principles of New Age Philosophy are:

(1) One Global Order – One World Governement, One Currency, One Universal Being.

(2) Universal Energy, Universal Matter, Universal Life, Universal Soul As God

(3) An Eternal Universe – Uniform in Space and Unending in Time

(4) Divine practices ( Astrology Yoga & other esoteric arts)

(5) Syncretism ( Unity of all Religions ).

(6) The need for Meditation ( for generating altered states of Consciousness );

(7) Life is Cyclical- Everything is cyclical, subject to the cyclical upheavals of Time.

(8) Holistic Medicine & Vegetarianism (The patient is more important than the Doctor & Alkaline diet)

(9) Pacifism ( Anti-war activities);

(10) Reincarnation; ( The Law of Conservation of Soul )

(11) The Evolution of Man into Divinity; ( The latent Life Force evolving naturally to the Divine )

(12) The Union of Man with the Divine; ( Merger of man into the Infinite )

(13) Matter’s Illusoriness; – Esse est percipii – Perception is Essence; Mind is Substance.

The practices of the New Age are psychic practices like : Astrology, Reiki, Bioenergy, Chi energy, Chakras, Nirvana, Christ- Consciousness,Spiritualism, Native American Spirituality, Prajna, Out-of-body/near- death experiences, Reincarnation, Yoga, Meditation and the occult disciplines, as well as psychotherapeutic techniques and scientific applications of the healing powers of crystals and pyramids.
Some commonly used New Age terms are: Quantum Healing, Transmutation, Transfiguration, Guided Imagery, Reincarnation; Positive Thinking; Human Potential; Holistic; Holographic; Synergistic; Unity; Oneness; Transformation; Awakening; Networking; Communal Sharing; One-world/globalism/new world order (i.e., One language, One Government, One currency, One religion); Cosmic Consciousness; Zodiac, etc.

Some New Age practices are: Transcendental Meditation, Parapsychology, Inner healing; Biofeedback; Yoga; I Ching; Reflexology; Therapeutic Touch; Transpersonal Psychology; Witchcraft; ; Magick; Tai Chi; Shamanism; Hypnotherapy; Acupuncture/Acupressure; Martial arts; Zen; Relaxation; Silva Method (formerly Silva Mind Control); Visualization; etc.
Some prominent New Agers are: Jeremy Rifkin, Norman Cousins, Elizabeth Clare Prophet, John Denver, George Lucas, Norman Lear, Alice Bailey, Alvin Toffler, Dr. Barbara Ray, Benjamin Creme, Levi Dowling, George Trevelyan, Fritjof Capra, Abraham Maslow, Barbara Marx Hubbard, Ruth Montgomery, Shirley MacLaine, J.Z. Knight, Marilyn Ferguson and David Spangler.

Soothing audio environments are created by New Age musicians and they believe rightly that Music has psycho-therapeutic properties. ( This concept is derived from the Vedic Philosophy that All music is Samaveda, the 4th Veda of the Indians ). Born of an interest in spirituality and healing in the late 1970s, it is often used as an aid in meditation.

Essentially meditative, New Age Music is soothing to the Soul. Isnt Music defined as the food for the Soul ? Harmonic consonance, uplifting themes, contemplative melodies & nonlinear song forms are the characteristics of New Age music. Even natural sounds or sounds from Nature and traditional electronic instruments are used by New Age musicians. With roots in classical music or Eastern Music, New Age music is often meditative. Prominent New Age musicians include vocalist Liz Story; harpist Andreas Vollenweider, electric violinist Jean-Luc Ponty , electronic-music pioneer Brian Eno, multi-instrumentalist Kitaro & solo-piano artist George Winston.

New Age practices have almost conquered the world. Athletes are using guided imagery. Graduate schools of business are invoking T M, Yoga, and Tarot cards in teaching courses on creativity in business (e.g., Stanford Graduate School of Business). Based upon Astrology, the Science of Time, stock market gurus employ Fibonacci numbers and “Wave Theory” in their forecasting.

We can summarise that the term New Age is an innovative term derived from the mother of all sciences, Astrology, indicating that this earth is undergoing an evolutionary transitional phase from the Piscean Age of Scientism to the Aquarian Age of Divine Wisdome, Cosmic Consciousness , Knowledge and Love.
Since the New Age is a conglomeration of spiritual practices, let us analyse the basic principles of N A M

1. The Divine Source of Authority. New Agers do not claim any source of authority—Only Inspiration by the Divine. By the Divine we mean a principle within, the Divine Spark or the Self and many are there who receive the revealations of the Self within or the intuitive insights of the Self.

2. The Lord. – Since Matter and Energy can neither be created or destroyed and the sum total energy in the Universe is an absolute constant ( Universal Being ), the Lord did not create the world, He became the world. Monism—( “All is Unity” ) averrs that there is only One Essence in the universe, everyone and everything being a part of that essence. The Self is an utter Being and all these are its Becomings. New Agers view God as an Impersonal Life force, Consciousness, or Energy (e.g., the “Star Wars Force”) mainly but they also believe in His personal aspect, as the Ocean ( which is Formless ) can take the form of an iceberg! They averr that every human has a divine spark within him because all created beings are reflections of the Divine Idea. The eternal state is called by various terms among different New Age groups, i.e., God-consciousness, Universal Love, Self-Realization, the I AM, Higher Self, Brahman, Nirvana, etc.

2. The Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Christ Consciousness or the Divine Consciousness is what the New Age advocates mean by Christ. . In other words, Christ is a Divine Principle rather than an individual, such as Jesus. This idea of Christ Consciousness asserts that Jesus was only one of the Christs, but that He equipped Himself to receive the Christ Consciousness (i.e., He was a great Master who attained Christ Consciousness), as did other prophets like Buddha, Krishna, and Mohammed. New Agers believe Dr Paul Brunton who stated the Jesus spent 18 years in India absorbing Indian Mysticism and that he was initiated into the highest esoteric doctrine.
3. Human Destiny. Man is the measure of all things and is more divine than the animals & hence the salvation of the world depends upon Man. Cleansing the negative elements from the collective subconscient should be the aim of humanity. Once Negativity is cleaned from the collective subconscient, the human positive energy will shine forth and the noble ideals of the New Age will be actualised in an era of Enlightenment. Since man is intrinsically divine and perfect, his only real problem is ignorance of that fact. Gnosis means experiential knowledge and Salvation in the New Age is for man to become enlightened through this Divine Gnosis. New Age groups offer various spiritual techniques to enable individuals, and ultimately the world, to evolve into this Unitive Consciousness . These techniques may include psychotechnologies for attaining altered states of consciousness – Transcendental Meditation, Yoga, Zen, Attunement , Channeling (Spirit guides), Psychics, Acupuncture, etc.

4. The Ethical Opposites, Good & Evil – Believing in the Oriental philosophies, New Agers make the distinction between good and evil. All wickedness is weakness and Evil is imperfection. By the method of Trial and Error, we come to know what is good and what is bad for the world and we have to transcend the dualities.
5. Reincarnation. New Agers believe in the ancient Vedic philosophic concept of Reincarnation—that through a long process of rebirths, man can eventually attain Divine perfection. They also teach the Universal Law of Karma -(( The Law of Cause and Effect ( Every effect has a cause ), the Law of Action and Reaction, the Law of Retribution )) that what a person sows , he shall reap. This is also the doctrine of God’s non-responsibility, that the Self is not responsible and it is the Ego which experiences bitter & sweet mental experiences due to its own Karma.
6.Salvation is Self-Actualisation and Sin is Ignorance – SSome theoreticians taught the concept of Man’s Original Sin. New Age exponents teach the concept of man’s essential goodness. Instead of systems which emphasised the human negative aspect and sin, New Age highlights that every man is essentially divine and it is a sin to call man a sinner ! However, New Agers speak of troublesome desires which are natural impulses which retard human evolution and make the Ego move away from the Self. Sin is merely ignorance of man’s essential divinity. The atrophied spiritual consciousness of the normal man who lives in ignorance of his Divine Self is Sin. Like the Law of Conservation of Energy which states that Energy cannot be created or destroyed, the Law of Conservation of Soul states that the Soul can neither be created nor destroyed. Matter exists in 3 states, liquid, gaseous and solid and matter cannot be created or destroyed. Nothing ever begins to be. Similarly Life does not at physical birth begin to be. It merely enters physical conditions and assumes physical guise. It merely undergoes a parallel transformation into conditions which preexisted in other conditions. The Soul is reincarnated in different bodies in a continous succession of lives. The good or bad Karma earned in the present lifetime determines one’s subsequent incarnation. Attaining higher states of Consciousness should be our aim. There are many different paths to the goal of Divine perfection and we should be tolerant of other paths.

The divine Aurobindo predicted that spiritual influences from India will trigger off a global spiritual movement. There will be Mass Incarnations ( many people divinely inspired ) who will work for World Peace and Universal Love !

I saw them cross the twilight of the Age

The massive barrier breakers of this world

The sun-eyed children of a marvellous dawn

The architects of immortality

Carrying the magic Word, the mystic Fire

Carrying the Dionysian Cup of Joy !

The four systems of Philosophy which triggered the N A M are Hinduism, a product of 5,000 years of development, Buddhism, circa 560 B.C., Taoism, circa 500 B.C & Druidism, circa 300 B.C, the religion of the Celts, which extended upto the Middle Ages.
